Navy Dads

graduation

My son graduates from basic next friday and we havent received any info from the navy. Does anyone know if they send us a parking pass or a gate pass or do we get them there? If you know please share the info with this old hillbilly. Thanks alot BJ

Billy you should have already gotten this. It should have came in the grad packet. You should have received it within the first few weeks of Ricky's arrival at Great Lakes.

You should have gotten an envelope from the Navy and in that you get the gate pass and information about graduation schedule and general info. We received the envelope about 4 weeks into training.

You should have already received your packet. Ours came on Saturday, and his PIR isn't until Sept. 12......................you might want to drop your son a quick line or check with his recruiter to see if he heard anything from your son or RTC.

I can only relay my PIR weekend experience... Forgot my vehicle pass at home... Of the four times that I drove on base, I was never was asked to show my vehicle pass but required to show an ID card... After passing thru the gate, you are guided to a vehicle inspection point after which you are guided to a parking spot on the parade grinder and ushered into MCPON Hall. At this point you will be asked who your sailor is and they will check to see what names are listed. I saw several families with more than 4 guests. Their only requirement for the additional guests was to provide valid IDs. This a big event for families and the Navy is not going to turn down a chance to show off their new sailors if there are seats available. This was davids dads response. in another discussion

hi my son just graduated 10/24/08 we received our pass about the 4th week so if i were you i would call your son's recruiter. he would be the one to check that out for you.

Chat on Navy Dads

The chat feature on Navy Dads has changed a little. To enter into the chat room click on were it says Navy Dads (44 members online) then type your post in the box and hit enter to make the post show up. When you are done click the the arrow by the person icon and the chat box will be hidden again. The chat feature can also be found on the main page. Just scroll down till you see it. The chat will also make a two note sound when someone posts a comment so you know when the chat is active.…
