We were permitted (Pittsburgh) don't know if other airports have restrictions
Thanks

We had the good fortune of spending the weekend with our sailor (now in Oceania).  We went to the airport to see her off and spent a good portion of the time in the USO with her.  Once they prep for departure, there is some slack time so we all had coffee and snacks in the USO.  When she left on her flight, we had a three hour wait and even though they are not supposed too, the USO let us flop there till our plane took off.  I hope you have the same chance.

We were able to here in Denver, time in the USO and all the way to the gate.  Some of the other recruits in his travel group said they wished their parents had known that they could.

You are probably talking when they leave for "A" School from Great Lakes. More than likely they will fly out of O'Hare. You can get a pass to go through security with them. I recommend this as all the cafes and restaurants are on the other side of security. You can sit right at the gate with them and see them off. (Have plenty of Kleenex)

Jim

Hi Jim, how do get the pass?

We got ours at the airline ticket counter. But that was 8 years ago and I don't know if that's still where you get them.

Have heard two things....check in at the ticket counter with your sailor for the pass and check in at the USO.....I would go with the ticket counter first

From what I gather, you can meet your sailor at the airport. They will know the time of their flight before graduation. Congrats...

Yes, you can drive to the airport and stay with them until their plane departs.  We sat there for 5 hours with our son - which was longer than his liberty time as he stood watch before being in the first group to depart for A school.  Congratulations!
