On 7 July 2011 Eric was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY
This is to certify that the Secretary of the Navy has awarded the
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
to
Aviation Structural Mechanic Third Class (Aviation Warfare) Eric P Corona
for
Professional achievement while serving as Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department Tire and Wheel Technician onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) from June 2007 to July 2011. Demonstrating exceptional leadership and technical ability, Petty Officer Corona supervised four sailors in the breakdown and build-up of 1,120 aircraft tire and wheel assemblies, significantly contributing to Carrier Air Wing Eight's 99.7 combat sortie completion rate during a seven-month combat deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. As Reaction Force Team Leader, his performance was instrumental to the division's success during the proficiency demonstration for the A-90 reactor complex phase one assessment during the ship's refuel and complex overhaul. Additionally, as a Light Industrial Facility Paint Booth Technician, his restoration of 1,051 non-tight doors ensured a 75 percent reduction in the non-tight boor backlog. Petty Officer Corona's relentless determination, resourcefulness and loyal dedication to duty reflected credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
