Housing Around Oceana

After waiting a couple of weeks since A school graduation down in Pensacola my son recieved his orders for C School and Air Sqadron at Oceana. Not what his was hoping for but apparently I'm learning there's not much you can count on in the Navy even with top grades. Anyway the one sad part is his family which includes his son (my grandson) will finally leave and join him not that he has his assignement. I have not heard many good things about the area surronding the base there in Viriginia Beach, I was wondering if anyone out there especially anyone with a sailor with a family has any tips and suggestions on where they should look to live. Obviously there first choice is on base housing but I doubt they will get that on the first request.

my Sailor piced this area even thoug he is stationed at Navan Station Norfolk.

Clean, affordable, convenient, and safe housing is abundant near Oceana (within fifteen minutes). I've lived in Virginia Beach since 1981 and I work a mile from Oceana. No worries.

Chat on Navy Dads

The chat feature on Navy Dads has changed a little. To enter into the chat room click on were it says Navy Dads (44 members online) then type your post in the box and hit enter to make the post show up. When you are done click the the arrow by the person icon and the chat box will be hidden again. The chat feature can also be found on the main page. Just scroll down till you see it. The chat will also make a two note sound when someone posts a comment so you know when the chat is active.…
