Navy Dads

My son is on USS Ronald Reagan and this is his first year. What is the longest time that he can come home for? Let's say he has a month of leave days saved can he use them all at once? I'm still new at this and you guys are the only place that I know where I can get an honest questions, so thank you again for your help

Sailors get 2 1/2 days leave per month. He will have to apply for leave when the time comes. It has to be approved by his Command. It may be limited based upon Crew requests. Senior sailors have first priority. Sailors don't usually use all of their leave time at once....but bank some time for future use....

Thank you so much

Here's my experience from when I was in.  I was on the USS John C. Stennis.  Our schedule never really allowed us to take any extended leave for the most part during the year.  When we were allowed to take leave, if was during the holiday season.  Normally for that, the command would split the leave period into two segments...one week during Christmas and one week during New Years.  They would also go from 8 section duty to 4 section to cover the loss of sailors during that time.  Generally during the holidays, they get about a full week of leave, plus 2 weekends, 9-10 days total.  Also, when the ship is about to deploy, the command has a leave period just prior to that.  Again, they split it up into 2 groups.  If I recall, this period was more like a week and half to two weeks.  They do this again when the ship returns from deployment.  Hope this helps.
