Navy Dads

I know PIR is held on Fridays. Does anyone know how much liberty is usually afforded to grads. My sons A school is at Great Lakes I know he has to register there after graduation on Friday. For travel purposes would like to know if he will be available for us to spend time with on Saturday and Sunday or is Friday it. Any feed back is much appreciated. We believe his graduation will be 12th or 19th of December. Do not have exact date yet..

Thanks Patrick Clarke

If he is staying at GL, he should have the weekend to spend with you. He will have to return in the evenings. There will be a delay after PIR on Friday as you are already aware.....

That sounds good thanks for the info.

Patrick

he may also have to stand watch st some point over the weekend so be flexible

Will do. Just trying to figure out best day to travel back home while enjoying some time with him if he is allowed. Thanks again for the info. This is a fantastic site for dads great job.

For an SR who is not staying at GL post PIR, is there any possibility for him to have a weekend or is it a standard that he will be traveling the following day?  When does the SR find out how much time they have to visit with family?  I've taken the safe route and bought tickets where I can change dates should he not have any time to visit but I saw this discussion and thought to ask. I agree with Patrick...great site for dads...much appreciate the insight I've gained.

almost all of those leaving for A-school will leave the following day

Thanks Paul.  Is the SR informed of the leave date prior to PIR or do they find out on that day?  Just curious.  I plan on flying in even if he flies out the next day but curious if he may find out a week or days prior to PIR.
