My daughter has a rating of IS. How can I help her score as high as possible during training?

Hello,

I am really excited for my daughter and look forward to helping her in any way that I can. Her Basic and Advanced training is for a rating of IS. What can I do to assist her in doing the best in her field. Also, I know she is not able to take any of her training materials out of the training area, what additional information can she work on outside the training to better her chances on scoring high?

Hello Eric. I don't think there is much you can do to help her with the training. IS is going to be a highly classified job. You will have to trust that you did a good job and gave her the values to study hard and to do her best. The Navy has a very good plan for teaching. When my son was in "A" school, his "books" were on removable hard drives and were put under lock and key after class each day. He's an AWO and flies on the P-3 Orion Sub Hunter. He's the radar operator and even his job is classified.
Her training will be very specialized...it's not like learning to code for Facebook. There will be no materials I would guess outside of what the Navy will provide that would ever come close to being an aid. She has to make this jouney on her own....tell her to study-study-study. And to make sure she understands everything given her....it's like calculus...skip a step or two and the begininng and you'll be lost down the road....not acceptable!!
Thank you so much for your responses. I passed on the information to my daughter with the advice... If you don't understand something... ask questions until you do!!!!
