You should have recieved a packet in the mail from your sailor with instructions for PIR and it has discount hotels and airlines. I went through American Airlines and purchased my ticket early so it would cost less by booking ahead of time. I went through Enterprise rent a car which i got a great deal of less than $10 a day. I stayed at the Lincolnshire which was also where we had our Meet and Greet. That way I did not have to find my way to the meet and greet. the Lincolnshire is in Deerfield Illinois about 20 minutes from the base. Very nice and very affordable!1 Check on where your meet and Greet will be and see about staying near it or if it is a hotel stay there. much easier! Go to www.bookingbuddy.com thats where I got my flight tickets online. just print them up and then saves you at the airport iof having to wait in long lines. hope this helps!
thank you

Oh also make sure you have plenty of quarters for the TOLL charges on the highways there!! They will take your picture license plate number and send you a huge crazy bill if you don't pay or if you do not pay enough!! Just an FYI!!
Not exactly true. If your state has EZ Pass it will work on Illinois Tollways. Also if you go through a toll (such as the open road lanes) accidentally, you can go to www.illinoistollway.com within 7 days and pay your toll at face value (most are $1.00). just use debit or credit card.

That would have been nice for many of us to know when we were there for PIR last oct 2008.

Southwest Airlines is having a special on flights to Milwaukee from select cities. I know from Baltimore it is $69 each way. You have to book before Dec. 31. Milwaukee is about the same distance away as O'Hare, but an easier drive.
