Todd, my son shipped out 2/16 and was in BC on 2/17.  My son is on ship 04 division 119.  I'm afraid that I left home 2/17 for several weeks and do not know what mail that we have received.  How do you know the PIR date 4/13/2012. Was that in the mail you received?

Thank you for any information, Jack W.

if you intend to drive onto the base for PIR pay attention to the password that is on that form letter....it is the password you need to download the parking pass

Paul I'm afraid part of my message was not clear.  I will be in San Antonio for 4 weeks to see my mother whose health is very poor.  My wife and I will fly to Chicago either from Huntsville or Birmingham, AL.  Todd S indicated that his recruit was on the same ship and Division as mine.  The message label said the PIR was on 4/13/2012.

if you know the division number you can use the link to find the PIR date.....

Jack:

My son shipped 2/15 and was at RTC by 10PM that same day. The only letter we recieved was the official form letter today. We got his box of stuff a few days ago. The form letter has his PIR date and password for the parking pass. I am sending a letter to my son Saturday. What is your sons name so I can mention it in the letter? Maybe they know each other.

The PIR date page is not up to date. It was last updated 2/17/12.

My brain is not its brilliant self.  A great idea.  My sons name is Travis.  I would be more than happy for you to send a letter with his name.  I to write Travis nearly every day and will pass Todd's name on to him.  I will tell him that I am passing his name along so I can get confirmation on what he tells me.  Not really, I know that Travis is a straight shooter and is looking to make friends and we have enjoyed meeting people.

Jack

just a hint guys....they all call each other almost exclusively by last names only.....

Thanks for the hint about names Paul. Jack, yes, I will be happy to send a note to Travis. My SR's last name is Sonflieth if you want to pass that on. I am curious how you know his ship and division if you did not also know the PIR date? Did you get his ship/division from his recruiter? - Todd

I've read this message to late as the post person has already picked up the mail.  My next letter I will pass on your sons name.  My SR's, I've got to get use to using the Acronym, last name is Hensley.

Thank you NavyDads Admin (Paul) for the heads up on how the recruits address each other.

My father was in the Navy for 30 years.  His last command over NURDC, Naval Underwater Research and Development Center.  On the bottom of the ocean off on San Clemente Island they built a SDS (simulated distressed submarine) so the DSRV (deep submergent rescue vessel) could practice mating with a sub.

This was in the late 60's during all of the protest and everywhere else SDS stood for students for a democratic society.

Todd I forgot to tell you.  The Recruiter gave us our SR's address the day following President's day.  He checked on his computer which was down and called me back a couple of hours later with the address.
