Boot camp grad gift
Hello fellow Navy dads. We are looking forward to seeing my SR's PIR on 9-12-2014, and I was wondering if anyone out there has any ideas on a good gift to give him to commemorate this occasion. My wife was thinking perhaps challenge coins. I don't what they can and cannot have after boot camp. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I would love hear them.

ability to contact the outside world is the best gift. smart phone with IChat or similar is great. having internet access can be a challenge once in whatever A school they are in. having a "jet pack" or something like that is what my sailor loves the best to get access to the outside world and family.

We had a similar idea and asked a couple of Petty Officers at the recruit center near use. The unanimous recommendation: Give Money!
