Navy Dads

Watched my son do his final swear-in at Dallas MEPS this morning.  Should be boarding a plane at DFW right about now to begin his incredible adventure.  Bittersweet moment.  Sad to see him go but incredibly proud to watch him stand tall and take an oath to serve and defend his country.

Yes, bittersweet indeed.  My Grandaughter left six days earlier, and I'm just starting to get a little sleep at night. The first few, were the worst. Such a case of pride and worry really suprised me. I thought I was prepared, after four months to get use to the idea, but I was not.

I took Rich's idea of a serial letter, kind of a daily diary letter helped me as much as it will amuse her. Glad I found navy dads.

My son will go next Tuesday to swear in at Dallas federal bldg. We are a week behind you

When I saw my boy stand and take the oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the US a wave of pride came over me like I have never experienced before.  You will experience the same, I guarantee it.  Good luck to you and to your son.

I completely agree.  This site has been and will be a big help as our boy's make their way through boot camp.  The feelings you are going to experience when you watch him swear in will stay with you forever.  Good luck to you and to your son.

My son ships out to RTC tomorrow and although, like all of you, I'm INCREDIBLY PROUD, it is starting to hit me.  I'm not worried about him at all.  I know this is going to be an incredible adventure and he's waited so long for it.  But it sure will be tough not seeing him every day.  Glad we can all lean on each other here at Navy Dads.
