Navy Dads

I got my first letters from her and it was hard reading them them and im proud shes been keeping her head up and pushing through this and i am proud of her. She been really upset because they sent her early but got stuck in an extra week of P days for more recuits. so her real training didnt start till the 10th of june when she left on may 27th. In one of her letters she wrote she wish she had something of me to remind her of me. I sent pictures of us in my first letter. I want to send her more stuff but i wanna know what i really cant send her. One of her gifts is a set of dog tags i had made at the local Surplus store. i had both our names put on it with US navy on it and a short message. it came with two tags and my idea is cause im buying her a necklace thats her real gradation gift the dog tag was just an add on. The necklace is an open heart and it broken into 2 parts one for me and one for her and my idea on her gradation im planning ahead just in case she doesn't get to come home i was going to send her part of the necklace with her mom to give to her on her PIR because i wont be able to make it due to my throat surgery with the heart and the part of the dog tags and when she comes home she gets my dog tag and my part of the necklace and when she leaves we break it back apart and she gets half and i get the other haft so she always has something of me and i have a part of her. When i got her letter she said she wanted a part of me so my idea was to break the dog tag and send it to her on the little chain but the necklace on her PIR. ill just jump to my question can i send her just the dog tag or will the take it from her? well what can i really send her? let me know thanks

Cody...She can't wear it at basic...save it for PIR. The best thing that you can do is write her lots of letters...It's good for you and even better for her! It is tough...but really it is only 8 weeks. As long as that seems at the beginning, it will go by quickly once she can write back. hang in there kid...all will be well!

Don't send her the dog tag!  The will take it from her.  Right now, about the only thing you can send is pictures in a letter.  My daughter also left on May 27th, but her training started on June 1st.  She only had a few days P days.  She said that one girl received a package that they didn't take away, but it was hygiene products.  Remember, she has very little room to store anything.  The only jewelry they are allowed to wear is a wedding ring that they arrived with or a small religious medallion that will fit on their issued dog tag chain and is concealed by their clothing.

Thats all I wanted to know. I've been writing letters every night since she's been gone. Thought I would ask before I sent her anything more. I don't even know how many letters I've sent, and I've also been trying to send her a card every once in a while with a long message in it. Everyone says its 8 weeks it turned into longer cause there we're not enough recruits when she arrived she said there was only 20 of them and 60 plus came the week following and it pushed them around and was stuck in processing. I will hold back and send it with her gift which was my first plan but she asked if I could send her something of me but I just didn't know what I could send her. You guys just made it clear only letters and pictures.... She asked me many questions in her letters I wrote her a long one and had if send overnighted.... Not going to lie I regreaded doing it after cause I know she'll have to push-ups for it but she'll understand why I did it to put all the bad thoughts to rest in her head. Thanks guys just looking for info that's all

you got the answer I see.....only send stuff that will fit in a flat envelope and NO musical cards and minimize the glitter and stuff like that.....it's only a few more weeks

Paul, Im sending her very small stuff that reminds me of her but when I send her pictures I send her like 4 or 5 at a time. She likes the chessey stuff so I send her little notes that she would love, like things from my work That fits in the envople.... I also sent her something to keep her letters in she's going to hate me because I know she had to do some push ups for it
