No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

My son's PIR date landed on 7-4, so, yes, they can still graduate before the eight weeks.

Greg, we are also looking forward to the call from our sailor tomorrow. On his last call he sounded much more comfortable and confident. Have a safe trip to PIR.

Yeah my daughter got there on the 9th of Sept and they still had recruits who only got to GL on the 14th and 15th.

I was wondering the same thing cause my son wrote in his letter that they were waiting for his shipmates to arrive. That they were about to start p-week .

I have a question for you all who have been through this already. My daughter just had her first phone call home tonight. (Which of course I missed because I was out shooting some targets with my son and didnt expect a call on a Monday) But anyway my daughter has been saying for the last few letters that her PIR is November 6th which shows correctly on the RTC website. But she also has mentioned that they started BC late because of waiting for the rest of her division to report. Tonight she said that today was the start of week 3 so my question is mathematically speaking it would be impossible for them to complete BC by November 6th. I am trying to figure out how this will work because I have been planning everything for a rental car, hotel, etc.

Three days and a wake up till we get to see our new sailor PIR, we cant wait, got a long call from him on Saturday and he sounds so much better than the last time he called, he sounded so much better, less stress and ready to graduate and move on to the next stage of his training, he's going thru battlestations today so we figure to hear from him in the morning.
God speed and best wishes to all of your sons and daughters who are facing the toughest part of their young Navy carreer.
see you all at PIR 10/9/09

For PIR 10/16/09 this is the week!

It's BATTLE STATIONS WEEK!

This is the time for all our little boots to become Sailors! I wish everyone good luck during this event, and an early congratulations to all of them in becoming a member of World’s GREATEST NAVY. No matter if they decided to make it a career, or just one hitch, they will always be Sailors of the US Navy, and for all times they will have saltwater pumping through their veins.

I made a mistake in the name of our motel. It is the "Spring Hill Suites / Waukegan" not Springfield.
