No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Raul. Just seeing the picture of Adam standing there in Graduation Hall brought back a flood of memories for me when my son graduated in June. Trust me, it is a feeling we will never forget. God bless the men and women who have dedicated themselves to this great country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Had the chance to spend the day with Adam just relaxing. It was funny watching him folding clothes without being told. His language is a little more 'enhanced' although he tried hard to curtail it and actually succeeded at that. The funny part is that he says that Boot Camp was actually fun and that Battle Stations were intense, nerve wracking, and downright awesome! We found him to have matured but there was no change in his demeanor. I hope to post a few pictures.
I have enjoyed the support and frienship of this group. Although my son has moved on I plan on staying in the group and answer any questions I can. I am looking forward how other dads fare.
Thanks again!
