No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Hi Tim, cell phones and laptops are both permitted. At least in Pensacola, Holly's mom gave her cell phone to her right before she left and I sent her money to buy a laptop in the NEX this past Tuesday. They are given a small desk with lock and key and are required to secure their laptop when they aren't in their room.

Bob,

My daughter is in 266. I am glad to hear they start at 8:30 pm. I can't wait to get the phone call this morning. Looking forward to seeing her at Pensacola in a couple of weeks.

Has anyone heard if they have restrictions on personal gear such as cell phones and laptops at A school?

Mark, I forgot you are only an hour or so away from GL so you don't need to leave first thing in the morning. Stay in waukegan or Gurnee, Gurnee is a little closer.

Mark, I know she will get through boot camp and battle stations, she made it this far there is nothing that will keep her from getting through this. She will wish you were there to see the cap ceramony tomorrow, Molly told me it was very emotional for her. Get it together and start heading up there because she may not be able to call you until about 4 or 5 tomorrow afternoon. Let me know when she heads for P-Cola, Molly is there and waiting to class up so I'm sure they will meet sometime next week, I told her about Karen and that she was graduating this week, maybe they will be in the same barracks, it's hard to say until she gets there. Goodluck and tell Karen Hoorah for me.

Did anyone's recruit leave for boot camp 07/28? Our son left out of Little Rock with five other recruits. We have not received the call but know he is okay. That is not unusual for him though.

I don't know if they are any other Div 266 or 267 dads out there, but we were wrong on our guess for Battle Stations - they both are doing theirs at 8:30 tonight. We got a letter from Karen today saying so. The good news, is that she passed her final fitness test and inspections and whatever else. All that's between her and graduation is BS. We'll probably be on our way up there when she calls. She is beyond upbeat at this point. I would say the tone of her letter is exuberant! She's absolutely thrilled to be in the Navy!

My wife is a member of Navy4 moms also and thats what they were thinking , I just wanted to see if anybody on here might know .

Al's Dad - My daughter is in 267 and we think she's doing BS right now, but we're not sure. The divisions PIR'ing with hers are 260 through 267 & 937. We know 260 and 261 did their BS last Friday, 263/263 were Sunday night, 937 was Monday night. We know because my wife is on Navy for Moms, and mothers of those sailors have gotten their calls. My ignorant guess would be that 270 will do BS next Sunday night going into Monday. The only way you'll know for sure is when they call home afterward!. My wife and I are on the edge of our seats - we haven't gotten a call since June 30.

I added photos from our weekend, having a great time even my 17 year old son is having a blast! 1 more day with Molly, she said pick her up at 7 then she is going ti go back to sleep for a while, I was waiting for this, we've been going non stop. Have your saior order their division t-shirt if they like the design as they are cheaper when they get them than if you have to order them later.
