No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Gary, your wife will never regret joining N4M's if she does become a member. The amount of support available on that site is beyond belief. And at the same time she will gain a wealth of information and create some new friendships along the way. Before she knows it, she will be an "pro" at it and will be offering advice and info to others.

Thanks Paige, I appreciate your comment. I know Nick is mature enough do what is right. I know he will be alright, but his mother tears up with each letter. I have to pull the letter away so her tears don't wash the words away. I think she is doing better and have told her to check into Navy 4 Moms.

Gary,
You offered good advice to Nicholas! My son had complaints about the same issues when he was in BC. He said when their division starting working as a group then things improved which made for less IT.
Good luck to your recruit!!

I received letter #2 from my son Nicholas. He still has a positive attitude but is extremely tired. His only issues with boot camp are the shower time is too short, (not 1/2 hour), and extra IT, because not everyone in his group can stay quiet especially at bed time. My response was not to get mad, someday he will thank these people for helping get him in to shape. I also told him some people take longer to learn the rules and its all part of team building.

I got my first letter!! It was the form letter from the Navy but he was able to write a little on the back.
It was so nice to hear from him. It sounds like he is doing well.

It's refreshing to hear their voice. Amazing how that five minutes will make you smile all night.
