No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Anyone have a recruit in division 015 (ship 13). Our son has a PIR date of November 21. Also he is rated SECF, Submarine Electronics Computer Field. I know his school will be in Conneticuit but was wondering when he will depart after PIR. Was wondering how long to book a hotel room for. Of course my wife and I want to spend as much time as possible with him before he ships out. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Wow, that was great news!  This is only my 2nd post, and it is because our son, Kevin is in Div 343.  PIR is this Fri, and I am already performing pre-flight checklist duties.  We are all so pumped, especially his young wife.  Best regards to all!

Congratulations to this week's Captain's Cup winners! Taking top honors for the non-integrated (all-male) divisions was Div. 343, and taking top honors for the integrated (male-female) divisions was Div. 949.

We got our sons, cell phone, Ipod, sneakers, jeans, belt, shirt  and hoodie back. Only thing  missing was the socks and underwear. We found the ipod in his hoodie pocket. and the cell was  wrapped in  his folded jeans.

Got the box.... But mysteriously absent of the cell phone and charger.

I dunno.

Yes. Ours took his iPhone and earbuds for music on the trip. Came back safely in The Box.

The nice thing about having their cel phone is that you get to talk while they still have the opportunity...
