No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Just a head's up from the Mom's site.... They indicate that the 800 Divs are always on Ship 004, (not 002) and suspect that your SR's are actually Ship 004 Div 802 for the 11/30 PIR date.

My son arrived at RTC on Wednesday, 10/3.  I received the letter today:  Ship 02 Div 802 PIR 11-30.  It was nice to see my son's handwriting!

I was sent an invite Scott about a PIR page for  the 30th of Nov on face book if you want the info let me know?  Glad to see our boys are in the same division. How exciting!!!!!!!!

Well we recieved our letter today Logan is in ship 3,division 21. His pir date is Nov 30

we advise folks to start a group based on PIR date and not by division....you  may have issues finding folks for a particular division but there may be others that have the same PIR date....just a suggestion

Same PIR as BB & I concur with some additional thoughts. Things can & WILL come up that prevent letters, calls, etc. Things like watch, dental, medical, etc. If others are getting calls/letters & you aren't, don't freak. You will in time. Additional issue on FB issue-ours was a closed group meaning things discussed there could not be seen by everyone, I believe. Kind of nice for the SRs just trying to get through BC with no problems if you know what I mean. For those in the 800 divisions I recommend acquainting yourself with the concept of OPSEC if you haven't already. Keeping a low profile and observing might be something to consider. Good luck & PIR will be here before you know it.

Yeah Scott--- My son might well be a week behind some of the others here.  I'll cross my fingers and hope for Nov 30th until I hear otherwise.

Donna-- He likely meant you will receive the box within the next few days, then the letter with his PIR info, then another phone call from him-- which is what comes in about 3 weeks from what I've gathered.

Donna Ladd-Fields, you can send a friend request to the people you wanna talk with then send group emails, much easier. Also we had a Facebook page PIR 10-5-12 and everyone was in one place. Just some ideas.

Our  recruiter said it  should be  9 fridays  I originally  thought the 7th of December too but  now am thinking if no problems then it  should be the 30th of November. If you all want to get together on the phone and do like a conference call I am available  in the evenings and i can make the call and we can all compare info. I am so not good with the computer and  keep having to find you all through my e mail lol.
