No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Jim, our PIR is Oct 5 too. Ship 2 Div 947. I hope we get a letter soon. Hard not hearing from our SR. Happy you got your letter and I hope his spirits lift.

well got first letter from son today. yahoo. he doesnt seem very happy and is upset that they have group punhishment and says he wishes he would have got in better shape. plus he is having migrane headaches all the time.plus his whole division is sick so that doesnt help. he sounds very down. i am hoping he gets though this. I AM PROUD OF YOU AXEL.. GO NAVY

Thanks everyone. Definately had the sentemental thing going on when we opened the box and yes his clothes went straight to the laundry!!! Hang in there Brian it should be there soon. Martin, my son started on the same day so it should be at your door soon.

Martin, my son left 8/8. Got box last week followed separately by form letter with his address. I bet yours will be there end this week/early next week. Still no personal letter from him yet but sounds like that is normal. We've written him but I keep telling my wife he is probably busy holding on for "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride". Hang in there-it's all part of the process.

My son started bootcamp on 8/15, other than the call of arrival nothing yet. Has anyone received their package or 1st letter yet?

Shaun PIR will be there before you know it. I remember when I got the civvies box I got real sentimental, but then the minute I opened the box, I took it straight to the laundry room hehe...
