No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny
Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.
RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

looking for people with sailors in division 186 ship 12. PIR on june 15th 2012. just looking for people to keep updated with. Jim Amos
We received our son's call after BS21 yesterday evening. It was great to hear his voice. We can't express the pride that we feel for our son. We have seen his motivation level rise with each letter we receive. He has enjoyed the boot camp experience and especially the recognition by the staff in his division. He was selected as a division leader and his confidence has soared. He is anxious for PIR 11 May and then to A school. Thanks Navy Dads for a place to stay in touch. The service and support you provide can't be measured.
remember they are dead tired and "amped" up after BS21....many catch some rack time before calling home and some divisions have pizza party's and the like before those calls.....
Waiting patiently for our son's call home today. His division had Battle Stations last night. We finally got our car rented for PIR on 05/11/12 and only paid $161 for 5 days through hotwire.com. We are leaving next Wednesday and can not wait to see our SAILOR...
welcome to the roller coaster that is bootcamp!!!!! remember now that you'll get the "sailor in a box" and the form letter (with password to download the parking pass for PIR if you drive on base). Then nothing for a few weeks......do not despair and tell mama that he is doing fine and if there is a problem you'll be made aware of it......
Well I got the call at 21:30 last night that my son had arrived at Great Lakes ....and the adventure begins.
if you are looking for official recruit photos:
RECRUIT INDIVIDUAL/DIVISION PHOTOS & DVD OF PIR/GRADUATION & YEARBOOK: If your recruit has not ordered any of these, you may contact the Navy Exchange Photos Lab after the graduation date to order at 847-578-6205.
The photo lab only keeps individual photos and yearbooks (if available) for about a year and division photos back about 10 years. Older items are are not available.
Then call the White Sox public relations office and ask them. Even probably their ticket department could direct you to their guest relations director or something like that.
I am looking forward to it. Not getting anything from the recruiter. We have tried.
