I feel bad about not keeping up with the discussions on here. I hope everyone has had a nice holiday. I was fortunate to have my son home some over the holidays. That was really nice.

to Dana, I can tell you what my DC son does when not at sea.They maintain their equipment, assist in engineering duties on the ship,and do drills and teaching on safety matters. I hope that helps.

So, I have a lot of information on what a DC does at sea, but what does a DC do when they are not at sea? Do they work at fire stations?

My daughter is about 3 weeks from finishing A school and then will get some leave. She enjoys the demonstrations and wet lab stuff but finds the computer training a bit tedious.

John, I had a Chief Engineer when I was on the Kennedy named Fahy. Not sure if his had an 'e' in his name or not. He was about the only officer I ever had any respect for.

I'd like to welcome Tom and John to our little group. My son is now on the USS IKE in the Chem Warfare shop. He seems to be liking it so far.
