Val was pulled out of OCS for medical today. She had to go back to Bethesma on Monday for CT scans, then Tuesday fainted walking back from chow. She still had dizzy and fainting spells this morning during medical check in for Lt. duty personnel, so they processed her out. All because of getting knocked out during a fireman carry which was not her fault. Currently she was ranked 2nd in her platoon so she is understandably sad having worked so hard to be ready for her scond run at this. With a medical she may be able to come back for a 6 week program next year, but I don't know if she will try again. I am so proud of her though for being #2 and showing she was very capable of leading Marines!

Spoke with Val this Sunday, she just came back from Bethesma hospital as they are trying to find out about why she has intense pains in stomac area. They thought they would need to operate on a possible hernia but determined it wasn't that. She had a concussion earlier when carried in firemans carry and knocked heads with another girl being carried. Also, almost broke her arm breaking a fall during night ops, turned out as only sever bruise. All that and she was still ranked 3rd overall in her platoon before going to the hospital. She is worried that the Lt. duty required by the doctors will have her miss too much to stay in, and she would be sent home again for the second time. I hope not since she got the favorable rating during the XO for platoon earlier and she has tried so hard over the past two years to be a Marine officer. Please pray for her body to be healed and that God Allow her to serve if it is in His will.

Got our first call from Val as she enjoyed liberty for the first time during OCS. So far she is in good spirits with only small issues to report. She got a concussion while being carried in the firemans carry when two teams collided. Had to stay out of training a day. She has already acted as XO for the platoon and is waiting for the results. All PFT and testing has gone well. She is currently top in the class for the exams taken so far. She hopes to continue her success. The biggest thing she enjoys is the letters of encouragement. She stays focused on her goal to complete OCS.

I finally heard from Valerie at OCS in Quantico, that she is part of Charlie Company 1st Platoon. She has been working with some of the girls who are having trouble adjusting to the unique enviornment. Val has some experience from last year before she broke her leg. She is also leading them in worship songs. So far so good. I know they love to get mail, so I will be sending letters of encouragement regularly. Please pray for her leg to hold up during the grueling 10 week program, and allow her to meet the physical and mental demands of becoming a US Marine officer.

My Daughter goes in for OCS tommorrow June 3. Say a prayer that she can complete the rigors and become the officer she was meant to be! She knows it is a long 10 weeks as she made it through 8 weeks last year before she broke her leg in the 8th week. She is stronger this time, with much better times, so we pray she gets through this time. What a celebration when she does!
