Hi guys two weeks to go my daughter ships out first to her recruiter in Europe then onward by a 12hr flight to GL, excited to be a female nuke.

Yes, they are assigned a email address in boot camp and they can not access it till in "A" school or the fleet. My Marine son found out the Navy son's the day he entered boot camp. Do not know when the Navy son started using his.

Does anyone know if recruits are assigned a @navy.mil email address at bootcamp? If so, how would a sailor access this. I'm just curious don't really have a need to know. Respond via email if this is a security issue.

The site on facebook for enlisted Nukes is called "Nuclear Enlisted Community" for what it is worth.

Here is some interesting information from my sailor that might help everyone with rumors and other questionable information. He says that there is a facebook page for nuclear enlisted sailors hosted by as he calls him "Bull Nuke", the most senior enlisted nuke in the Navy. His boss is the four star admiral in charge of the entire nuke program. Have your sailors join that page and they will get updates on the program every couple of days my son says. This page is limited only to the sailors, not civilians or parents but seems to be a good source of info for them.

Well, I have egg all over my face! I had assumed that he was a ET (N), opps he is not. He is a MM (N) so I guess that the 13 to 14 week "A" school is correct. Also says he is coming home at the end of the Month.

Yes it is. Being able to see and speak to your son makes all the difference in the world compared to just email. Plus the dog talks to him and she's almost as tech challenged as my mother. ;-)

KS ~ pretty sweet aint it? We skype every weekend if not more. It is very nice to actually "see" them doing well.

Microsoft LiveCam VX 5000 $37 @ Newegg (video and audio) and a gmail account sure work well for visiting with our sailor. Best communications tech investment I've made in a long time.

That's weird because my son is in the ET track and he started school in late January and finishes in July.
