Hello everyone! This is my first post. My son Todd auto qualified for the nuke program back in January of this year. He is down to 17 days before he leaves for boot camp. What seemed like forever is now down to the last few days. He is ready to go. We are ready for him to go. Mom is beginning to get a little splotchy. We are going to go on a cruise to Mexico this Friday. Our last hoorah as a family. After he goes we are realizing it will never be that same. We know that this is the way it is supposed to be but now it is a reality. I guess I now need to develop some other personality skills so my wife will have something to look forward to. Pray for him, pray for us! It is going to be exciting to watch how we all are affected by his decision. Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead!

Yes - that is the one they were hard and not very good, but he appreciated it anyway......one day I will get there - maybe when I retire in a few years - I have heard nothing but good things about it........

Yes, I live in San Diego and I love it! It is awesome here. I have been here since 17 years old (California). First Malibu for College at Pepperdine University, then San Diego. Love San Diego even more than Malibu. It was foggy a lot there and cold in the AM. It is perfect here, you guys should definitely visit! I have a small place or I would offer. I remember that your wife made cookies and they were hard when he got them. Same thing happened to mine!! You made the switch, good for you, GO NAVY!! You can do it!

My daughter was in San Diego last week - her fiance is a Navy pilot and was there for training - she said that it is GORGEOUS there and would love to stay. You must be in that area (based on the Charger comment)...........I would love to visit there myself someday........up until about 6 months ago no active military in t he family - now 2 Navy - one pilot and one nuke. I was in the Army and it is hard to say go Navy!!!!! It is TREMENDOUS to see the support the military members are getting today........... My son said that he is applying for the academy so I am keeping my fingers crossed for him.....GO NAVY!!!! .......There I said it......haha

Some things are the same as when i was in the military - the "WHO KNOWS" I think is military tradition.......you are right - my daughter is a little upset with her brother - she feels like she is competing with his friends and I suppose she is........like you said - I am grateful for whatever time I can get, but I remember when I came home - I wanted to see and spend time with my friends.........so I understand

I guess my son is blessed he got in on the old deal. Who knows, you are right it is the military and maybe he thinks he will only be helping recruiter 2 hours a day for five days! Maybe it will be all day! Hope not. Maybe his class got lucky. Who knows. I am learning that with the military, WHO KNOWS? Still proud of them all!! I can't wait to see him, but of course there are his friends here, the Charger game, camping and my ex-husband to compete with me for his attention while he is here. I will be grateful for whatever I can get. I want to touch him and see his face! I know you can relate. Enjoy your time, what he gives you of it!

Thanks we are proud of him as i am sure that you are too.......I am proud of ALL in the military......my son is home for 10 days and Power school starts next next week. He said that he could only be home for ten.....he could work for a recruiter for 5 days and be charged for 5 days of leave. he said that they are doing away with the 15 days between A school and Power School....but it is the military so one never knows..........

Should have pre-read. If he works for Recruiter for 2 hours a day, he gets those extra days.
