Yes, he says he was going to go to Georgia, then found a "good place" in Charleston. I sure hope so.

We had the same BC experience with my son. Liberty on the week-end and then off to GC the following Tuesday. He did pass phase 2 a few weeks ago and now just let us know last night he had his mandatory study time cut down to 10 hours. Spends Saturdays at the beach to "unwind". Hope all of your sons/daughters take the instructors advice which was to go out on the weekend and clear their heads. It is a much deserved rest.

New to the site but not new to being a Navy Dad. Tattoos they go to Georgia to get while stationed in SC.

Your son is smart. That is EXACTLY what I want my son to realize the "foreverness" of it. Mine knows what he wants and has told me since 16 he is getting it when he is old enough. I had hoped he forgot. Not that tattoos can't be cool, but there are so many reasons I would think it would get old (fade, get tired of it). I guess Mom is out on this one. A lot of money better spent also!

My son has wanted a tattoo since he was 16, I told him when he moved out of my house go for it. He has been in the Navy for just under 2yrs now and he is 20 now with out a tattoo. He can't decide what he wants because he goes "they're forever unknow".

Sheryl if your son is in Goose Creek he wont be getting any tattoos in south carolina before he turns 21 without your consent , at least thats what my son said today , He got there yesterday and was telling his fiance that he needed my permission to get another one ( if that is true I am so happy).

Wow. I was blessed. I miss him very much. I really needed that time with him and he needed it. They look so young and like men now but scared still in the eyes. He says he is coming home for Christmas. He also is getting "sleeves" tattoos on half his arm next week which I am very sad about. I know he will probably regret it one way or another some day. He is only 19.

You got lucky to spend time with your son after BC my son was a grad and go, we got 45 minutes after graduation before he left for the airport to head to Goose Creek.

I am sure BC was a LONG TIME ago and wasn't even called that in the Marines. Your number 2 son is thinking ahead! I have three brothers and understand the mentality. Smile :o) My thanks and admiration for a family serving our country.

I should know most of the terms, I have a cpl. in the Marines.

The reason why #2 son joined the Navy is that he did not want to have any chance of #1 son being in his chain of command.

Yes, he knows that #1 son will be senior in rank, and their might be a zillion to one chance that he might serve with him but...... it is a brother thing!
