Chuck glad to know your son is doing well! My son is just waiting for his orders to go on the USS Anchorage he's certified and ready to rock & roll. He also mentioned that he may want to be a cop in the future and possibly cross-rate? I said that's awesome son we need to talk maybe I can slide you in for Homeland Security detail... :)

Hello all,

Well my son is doing well. He is on the USS Carr out of Norfolk Va. He has been doing lots of training and has been waiting for their first deployment. He got his wish, they have been out for just over a week, and have had their first contact with drug runners. He is having a blast. Talk to you all soon.

Congrats to your son Chuck. There is a lot of great history in and around Norfolk.  Like Cheri, our son is still waiting for orders.  After PIR he stayed at Great Lakes, first for ATT School, then A School which he completed just before Christmas on Dec 16.  He earned his rating, and advanced his rate to E-4.  He was able to come home for the holidays, and then got 10 days leave starting Feb 7 to come back to California for the birth of his daughter, our first Grandchild!  Now he's back at Great Lakes waiting for orders on the date and location for starting C School.  Once he gets those orders, his wife and daughter can join him.  His been there since 2-21-11, and 2 Illinois winters have not been fum for a Southern California boy.  We hope he gets his orders soon.

Congrats to your son.  My son is STILL waiting to meet up with his boat.  He spent the last month with some anti-terrorist training where he was OC Sprayed, hand to hand combat and weapons training.  He like the shooting part a lot and is now Expert Rifle.  He is back in I Div awaiting the next step. My guess is they don't want to surface his sub at this time to have the guys meet up so we just have to wait.

Well it has been a little while from my last post. Here is the latest. My son made it through BC and A-school. He was home on leave for the last 10 days. That was a great time for me and the family. My son is very happy and doing great. I took him to the airport this morning to fly to Norfolk to his new ship. He is the newsest member of the USS Carr. He is very excited about his new ship. We are very proud of him and all that he has done. I will be on more for updates. God bless our sailors.

My son is staying in Groton at the subase and will be serving on the USS Pittsburgh 720
