At MEPS in San Diego. He hasn't shared yet when he leaves for basic, his job will be Missile Technician. I work in the South Bay, live in the Inland Empire.

I just returned home from the Tiger cruise on the USS Carr. Wow what a great trip. We traveled from Mayport FL. to Norfolk VA. not only did I and my youngest son get to go on the trip, we watched my older son receive his ESWS pin and a letter of commendation from the ships Captain. I'm a very proud father. If you ever get the chance to go on one of these Cruise's, go it is great. Thanks to the US Navy for letting us be part of this trip.

Stephen, I know you are as proud as we were attending PIR.  Glad you liked the hat and got one of your own.

Thought I would throw up a picture of my Son, he is knelling in the front on the left. This is the "Line Shack Crew" for HMS-71 "Raptors" aboard the USS John C. Stennis and currently on deployment with the 5th Fleet.

Just wanted to share a Veterans Day story that involved my son.  After starting the process to enlist in early 2010, my son John signed his contract and took his oath with his recruiter in July 2010.  Even though he wasn't scheduled to ship out for RTC to start basic until February, 2011, he got a call from his recruiter in November 2010. They wanted to get 50 or so new recruits to march in the San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade, and re-take thier oath from the Grand Marshall of the parade, who happened to grow up in the San Fernando Valley where he attended Notre Dame High School before going on to the Naval Academy.  When I found out who the Grand Marshall was, I couldn't belive it.  It was Admiral Michael Mullen, who at the time was still the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. My wife went on-line and bought a copy of the picture the LA Daily News ran with the story.  There in the frant row, wearing a shirt printed with "Property of the United States Navy" was our son John with his right hand raised giving his oath to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.  We framed the picture, and I get a lump in my throat every time I look at it.

Hello to all the parents of men and women that have served or are serving our country. My son shipped to boot camp on Nov. 21, 2011. In that time he has done and seen some amazing things. He was re-assigned before boot camp was over, not what he wanted but he rolls with the punches. He was assigned to the USS Carr. They are currently working in the area off the Columbia coast keeping drugs from reaching our shores. They have been very successful I may add. They have  rescued i think three vessels in distress on the open seas. Not to bad for his first time out. They recently crossed the Equator and he is now a Shell Back. What a year it has been. I will be able to go on a tiger cruise soon, i cant wait.

Happy Veterans Day to all Navy Dads and Moms
