At MEPS in San Diego. He hasn't shared yet when he leaves for basic, his job will be Missile Technician. I work in the South Bay, live in the Inland Empire.

Jack, my son stayed at Great Lakes after PIR as well.  His PIR was Friday, April 22, 2011 (he started in mid February). He then started FC A School right after PIR, and finished A school in early December, but didn't get his orders for C school until May.  So it was 2 North Chicago winters in a row for a Southern California boy who spent 10 summers as a staff member at the Camp Emerald Boy Scout Camp on Catalina Island. He did NOT like the cold winters and he was more than happy to get to San Diego for C school!

Stephen, here is a link to the RTC PIR graduation schedule.  I believe that it is updated weekly.  It lists the Divisions graduting by date.

Thanks everyone, for sharing. I couldn't be more excited.

My son will be staying in Great Lakes after Boot Camp.

When my son had his pir  on October 12th it was one of the most special times of my life. Not counting getting married, the birth of my children and walking 18 holes with Fred Couples. It is a memory that I will never forget. Seeing all those young men and women marching in that hall is as moving as it can get.  The pride you feel is a fraction of the pride you see in all the new sailors. Get there as early as you can

Stephen and Jack, be prepared for a lump in your throat (& if you're like me a tear in your eye) when the entire command gets to the Sailor's Creed.

Here's a link I'd like to share with the group.  I ordered a

"Proud Farther of a U.S. Navy Sailor" challege coin and gave it to my son after PIR.

Ooops, check that, my lovely wife corrected me...we stayed at the Ramada. Sorry Marriott. You're good.

No need to make reservations for Sarge's M&G. BTW, he is awesome! Just FYI, we stayed at the Marriott and that place was horrible. I don't think it has ever been updated, it smelled funky, furniture in the room was broken and the AC didn't work well at all. We were there in July when it was 105 outside. All that never over-shadowed the great time we had with our son.

I RSVP'd for the Sundance Saloon. We booked a room at the Marriott, since I'm not prior service. Looking forward to meeting you in person.

It does not seam like it's been almost three years. Stephen,Jack enjoy your travels to your PIR! December will be three years that I got to see my son off to bootcamp.
