At MEPS in San Diego. He hasn't shared yet when he leaves for basic, his job will be Missile Technician. I work in the South Bay, live in the Inland Empire.

We went to the Ramada inn. It was well attended and organized. Here is a picture of my son and his best friend. He drove from Ohio20121012_103225.jpg

know what you mean....was downright cold for my daughter's PIR and remember below zero temps for my son's PIR....and I'm from Tucson!  Good thing I spent many years in cold country and was still used to dealing with cold weather!

But one thing, we are all truly Proud Californians.  It's great to have Stephen and Gary join the group.  As I told the group last month, my son has been assigned to CVN-68. I was down in Costa Mesa for 3 days for work, and last night my son and daughter-inlaw drove up from San Diego with my grandaughter to meet me for dinner.  Although John doesn't report to the Nimitz up in Washington until after the first of the year, the ship is currently in San Diego and he was very excited to see her for the first time.  He's gone aboard her a couple times already and is looking forward to his first deployment.  Hopefully I'll get to do a Tiger Cruise with him.  Earlier this year she did a Tiger Cruise from Pearl Harbor to San Francisco.  While I was driving back to Woodland early this morning, they were moving the Endeavour from the hanger at LAX to the California Science Center.  Unfortunately, they hadn't quite got her to the 405 when I passed LAX, so I didn't get to see her up close.  So thanks to Paul for the cool video
