I served in the Navy as a BT from 1989-1993. Boot camp in Great Mistakes Illinois😁. I served onboard the USS Guadalcanal(LPH7),AKA haze gray and underway. My son has just decided to enlist so I found this web site whilst surfing the net. He leaves for boot camp 5/13/20. I’m excited and a little nervous for him.

As far as he knows, it's just a transportation and housing issue.  Because so many recruits were placed on "hold" (Delayed Entry Program) while the Navy was sorting out the Covid issue, the recent training groups have been huge.  I guess that trying to get them all to their A-Schools has been challenging.  It might also have to do with when classes at A-School fill up?  Sorry that I can't be more specific, but that's all the info that I have at this point.

It was about a week after graduation before he had it.  Although it's hard not knowing what is happening, as they say, "No news is good news!"  Hang in there.  I'm sure that your son will call you as soon as he can.

I wish I knew.  I'm wondering if we'd be better off flying to Chicago to see him instead.  Not sure if we can get on base or he can get off however.
