Bll - I think it starts around 10:00. There are several hotels close to the base that are nice but not too expensive. You may already know this, but Lackland AFB is where the Air Force does their boot camp. Their boot camp graduation and the Navy MA pinning ceremony are on the same day - Friday. So leave yourself plenty of time to get on base for the pinning. Lots of traffice and very crouded.

Bill - Congrats to your son! He is going to love MWD. According to your message, he's being offerred VA or Italy? I remember when my son was talking about going to Italy. The bases in Italy have the lowest turnover of Navy personnel than any other on the planet. I think Italy is the most coveted duty of all -- it's great that he has a shot.

Your son will do his MWD training (C School) at Lackland. I think the training is approx. 11 weeks. He should know where he'll be assigned before he graduates A School. My son, Chris, was disappointed he didn't get Italy, but he's getting great experience in Bahrain. Let me know where he ends up. Are you going to his pinning ceremony?

Bill, Welcome Aboard!

When my son first enlisted in the Navy I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to his future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads but found out I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and hope this site will benefit fathers that follow behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Conrad for his service for me and for yours as well. Thanks again for joining us

Sincerely, E.G.

Welcome aboard Bill! I’m so glad that you’ve joined us. I can’t add very much to what Paul said, but wanted to pop in here and say hello. My son is an AW and flies with VP-45 on the P-3 Orion and is stationed in Jacksonville, FL. Be sure to join the groups that will follow what Conrad is doing with the Navy. If you have questions, usually you can find what you’re looking for here. See you around the fleet!

Welcome to NavyDads.com Bill! I'm sure you'll find NavyDads.com as useful, educational and informative as I have. Please explore the site and make some new Navy friends. Be sure to read the discussions add your comments or start a new discussion. Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. I certainly have! If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm blessed to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) is stationed on the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) just completed her five-year enlistment on the carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Bill this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let us know how Conrad is doing! Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind at all times. On the right or starboard side of every NavyDads.com page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should and should not talk about in a public forum like NavyDads.com. And stop by the NavyDads offical store- Navyoutfitters.com! Show your support for NavyDads.com by wearing the latest in NavyDads attire. Best Regards- Paul
