"It is very fitting for your other son to come in uniform. It is also very common to see others in the crowd in uniform. You bet he should wear his blues! Besides that, he gets in to the PIR with no questions asked!"

"I wanted to ask about that, if my younger son can get leave for his brother's PIR next month, if he could/should wear his uniform. I would love nothing more than to have the two of them side by side in their Blues! Don't know when they…"

"I should also add that one of the most accurate meterologists is Tom Skilling at www.chicagoweathercenter.com, bookmark the site and check it out close to your PIR.  "If your thinking of grilling, better ask Skilling.""

"Our son also has PIR 10/14/11.  The NOAA.gov website has been the most consistantly "close"  7 day forecast available to us non-military folks. You can put the zipcode (60088) in the box at the top left of the page. As…"

"It will be cool for sure. By that time of the year in Chicago, you can expect temps of 40 to 50 degrees.  "

Welcome to NavyDads Brian! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what heis going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is a month into a seven-month deployment on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt and my daughter Kat just returned from her seven-month deployment on the carrier Abraham Lincoln. And Brian this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Zachary is doing! Best Regards- Paul

Brian, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. I see that you have started a discussion; I like that, jump in and get involved. Take some time and check out some of the groups and other discussions that are going on. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors and sometimes we brag on them a bit. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the service. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is in Everett, WA. stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Zachary for his service to this great country from and old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young man.

Brian thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your son for his service for me. Good luck and thanks again for joining. Sincerely, EG
