He graduated August 22nd and it was so great to see him. Other than walking a little taller and proudly wearing the uniform that he worked so hard to earn and saying thank you more often, he is still my Alex. I had heard a few horror stories about how some of the recruits change and loose their fun loving personalities. I guess I did not need to worry. He still is the same fun loving Alex that I love. And I am soooooooooooooooooooooo proud of him that I cannot begin to put it into words.

Hi Dennis, The waiting for calls and letters is the worst part. They are so busy learning new things that they only get Sunday afternoons to write, and the calls are frankly very few, unscheduled, and far between. ND should be a great job. I have a friend who started off as a HM, then became a diver, and recently retired as a Senior Chief, Master Diver, etc. Now they have their own rating, and are part of specwar, so there's probably more opportunity and better training. Let us know how his training progresses.

Dennis, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad you have joined us. Take some time and look around the site. This site is for us to showcase our sailors. We are all here to support and encourage one another. Please feel free to get involved in one or more of the groups or start one of your own.

Jenison, Mi. I am not sure where that is, I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Mi. Also your situation with kids sounds a little like mine. My youngest joined the Air Force a little over four years ago and now my oldest just join the Navy and is now in “A” school. He was living at home and attending college but just felt like he needed some direction in his life.

Welcome aboard! Thanks for joining us, and for raising a Sailor!
Tell us a little about Alex, where he's at, what he plans to do. Check out our groups, there may be one that corresponds to his rating. If not, you can start one, and begin sharing helpful info.
Blessings, Kevin
