Ensign
Describe a little about yourself:
I am a proud Navy Dad who could not be prouder of my daughter and her sister who is an Army wife. My other son-in-law is in an Army special operations unit. And one of my grandsons is a Marine. I pray for all who serve and all the families who wait at home.
What brought you to this site:
my daughter is currently serving
What were your feelings when your Sailor joined the Navy:
I knew she was thinking about enlisting, but she clled me at the Cleveland Clinic two days after I had open heart surgery to tell me she had enlisted. It was the best medicine I could have had. She follows a long line of men in our family who have served since the Civil War. She is just the first in the Navy. She believes that more like her who have had many advantages in their life should also be serving. I am a proud Navy dad.
What is your relationship with your sailor

Why do we pray?

Posted on June 9, 2009 at 1:16pm 0 Comments

Prayer is the hardest thing we will ever do, the hardest thing we are called to do. We come to God in freedom, freedom given to us by our Creator. The question I hear most often is "Why pray?" I have asked that questions many times. The Church is a hospital from God to all of us. We would not not think of taking our medicine given us by the doctor, then why not take the medicine given us by God.

Listen to this Orthodox bishop as he talks about why we pray. He gives the reason far… Continue

Prayer of prayer

Posted on June 6, 2009 at 12:41am 0 Comments

The Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray not only for ourselves but also for others, for our neighbours; for by His love, the Lord imparts mercy to those for whom others are praying.

While in the city of Capernaum, Jesus Christ taught in one home. The inhabitants of the city, as soon as they heard that he was at the house, gathered together in such great numbers that there was no longer room for them, not even near the door. Among the number of listeners, there were Pharisees and… Continue

Prayer for Soldiers and Sailors

Posted on June 6, 2009 at 12:31am 2 Comments

Christ our True God, who loves mankind, look down with mercy and compassion upon every soldier who is facing a daily struggle with war, aggression and terrorism. Each one desires to live before You, and be ever protected by Your Right Hand. Preserve them, we humbly pray, and watch over them every given hour. Guide their steps, give wisdom and discernment to all who are in leadership, that Your will may prevail, and that they may return safely to their homes and loved ones.

We beg You… Continue

Hello Father! So glad you joined us in Indiana dads. As you can see, the group is small. I have every confidence that we will grow over time. My sailor is in Jacksonville learning to be Aircrew on the P-3 Orion aircraft sub-hunter. I live in South Bend. GO NAVY! HOOYAH!

Father,
Something I wondered about that is troubling me: My daughter, Jill, is on the USS Forrest Sherman. She was just in port recently and went into a Cathedral. She remarked that she missed going to Mass. I asked her if there was a Mass on ship. She said no. What do Catholics do for Mass when on a ship?

Father Theodosius, I am sure that your father had a great impact on your daughter and what a legacy she has and one to be proud of I am sure but I think you had some influence along the way. Your daughter is a fine young woman because of you and her legacy and not just because she joined the military but because she is a fine young woman in her own right. I can tell that you are very proud of her no matter what path she may have chosen.

Welcome to NavyDads Father Theodosius Walker! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what she is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is on the second half of a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat recently returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Father Theodosius Walker this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Alda is doing! Best Regards- Paul

Father Theodosius, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. I see you have been busy, I like that jumping in and getting involved. Check out some of the other groups and some of the discussions that are going on. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Alda for her serves to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young woman.

Father Theodosius Walker, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your daughters journey in the Navy. Thank Alda for her service for me and your son- in- laws as well. Thanks again for joining us.
Sincerely, EG
