"That is what I hear too, Cheri. There are way more married sailors on the boomers for this reason - because their deployment is set and not flexible. I think there are only 14 boomers in the fleet of 60 - 70 or so active boats."

ok he can have his laptop and everything else that he want but the living space is kinda limited so tell him not to overload himself with stuff. The whole will he have time for it all depends on how good he is at time management i have enough time each day to talk to my mom and dad on skype and also talk to my girl and still be able to work out five times a week. There are 3 roommates to each room every person will have a desk, dresser and a large stand up locker. Also a twin size bed which he will love straight out of bootcamp. But any more questions dont hesitate to message me or even e-mail me.

Rev. Kanavel, I would suggest that you join the boot camp group. There are also links in the mast head of that group that will take you to the RTC web site. Knowing what Colin is going through will also help you through it and maybe be not so apprehensive. Hang in there and ask lots of questions.

We've prepared a short welcome video that will give you a brief tour of the site and highlight some of the more important features you'll find on NavyDads.com. If you click this link Go To Welcome Page you'll be able to watch the video. We've made some cosmetic changes to the site since the video was prepared, but all important aspects of navigation around NavyDads.com are the same.

Be sure to read the discussions add your comments or start a new discussion. Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. I certainly have! If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm blessed to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) is stationed on the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) recently completed her five-year enlistment on the carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Keith this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let us know how Colin is doing! Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind at all times. On the right or starboard side of every NavyDads.com page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should and should not talk about in a public forum like NavyDads.com. And stop by the NavyDads offical store- Navyoutfitters.com! Show your support for NavyDads.com by wearing the latest in NavyDads attire. Best Regards- Paul

Welcome aboard to Navy Dads Keith! When my son first enlisted, I was a little scared and worried for him. Not coming from a military family at all, I had no idea what to expect. What I found out was that he had made the most mature decision of his life! I found lots of answers to my questions right here on NavyDads.com. I will brag a little here and tell you that I was the first dad outside of the creator’s family to join this site. After two years, E.G. and Paul asked me to become one of the co-administrators. I was honored. But this is not about me, it’s about you and your Sailor!

I have one sailor in the family - my son Stephen is an AWO2. (Air warfare systems operator) He is a Petty Officer 2nd Class and flies in the P-3 Orion sub hunter. Currently he is with VP-45 in Jacksonville, FL. This is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Colin is doing!

We do ask that you remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors in mind at all times. On the starboard side of every Navy Dads page is an area we call “About Us.” Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link and the NavyDads Guidelines link. Also check out the FAQs at the top of the pages, and also on the starboard side. There is lots of information there as well. Also be sure to check out the “Navy Dads Tutorial” in the FAQ section. It’s a short video that will help you to navigate around the site.

Also be sure to stop by the NavyDads official store- Navyoutfitters.com. The Navy Blue tee shirt with the NavyDads.com logo is my favorite! Again, welcome and we’ll see you around the fleet! GO NAVY! HOOYAH!

Best Regards- Jim
