- Thanks for the Welcomes to the site! Since I joined in May my daughter has expereinced trying times to become a Sailor. She all set it seemed waiting for a routine waiver and atteded DEPP. Then she was sent for a follow-up eye exam due to a poor reading on light refraction. The Tech screwed up and Cass was discharged from the Navy for not passing this part of the physical. Her recruiting Chief worked with her and she filed an appeal with another opinion from an Opthemologist. Her appeal was accepted and she was back in, but now had to go through a bunch of the same stuff as a new recruit. Bottom line she is in, has a job and scheduled for Boot Camp in September. She stuck to her guns to get in. We wish her well and hope it is all she wants it to be.

I'm lucky enough to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) returned spring '09 from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) just completed her five-year enlistment on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Keith this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Cassandra is doing! We do ask that you remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors in mind at all times. As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your daughter is going through. In the Navy Bootcamp group is a discussion called A MUST READ for all New Navy Parents. Take a few minutes to read through this post as it will do a lot to give you some understanding about what your sailor is learning and why. And be sure to check out the videos as they address many of your questions and concerns.

When my son first enlisted in the Navy I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to his future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads but found out I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and hope this site will benefit fathers that follow behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your daughters journey in the Navy. Thank Cassandra for her service for me and thanks again for joining us.

I have one sailor in the family - my son Stephen is an AWO. (Air warfare systems operator) He flies in the P-3 Orion and is assigned to VP-45 in Jacksonville, FL. Keith this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Cassandra is doing!

Chat on Navy Dads
The chat feature on Navy Dads has changed a little. To enter into the chat room click on were it says Navy Dads (44 members online) then type your post in the box and hit enter to make the post show up. When you are done click the the arrow by the person icon and the chat box will be hidden again. The chat feature can also be found on the main page. Just scroll down till you see it. The chat will also make a two note sound when someone posts a comment so you know when the chat is active.…
