I don't check this site much either - it's pretty dead most of the time. Karen is loving it there, although she says she misses fall weather. I think she's nuts, myself. (It's 40 degrees, windy, and raining here right now.) She's going to try to come home on Thanksgiving weekend. I'm on call at work that weekend, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be here to see her. Karen says the whole A2E group is pretty tight since they're in class all day with each other. I think they all work out together at 5 am most mornings. Next time I talk with her, I'll ask about Brandon.

Ken - My daughter Karen is also an A2E in Pensacola. She PIR'd on 7/31 and arrived on 8/4. She was among the first of the A2Es to arrive, and they've been waiting for the rest of the group. She really likes it there, also. It sounds like there will be about 30 A2Es from around the country that will be taking classes together this fall. You're the first Navy Dad with a Sailor in A2E I've come across, so welcome! From the start, it's been sort of 'learn as we go along' as far as A2E goes, although she's learned a lot more about it since she got to Pensacola. Best wishes to your son and nephew, and congratulations! - Mark

Ken your welcome and thanks for the kind words. I wish Brandon the best in his new Navy career. I would think his projected date would be Aug 28th. You really won't know for sure until he's there. My only advice would be for him to be running now, not to wait. Talk to you soon.

Kenneth, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. Check out some of the groups and some of the discussions that are going on. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force 5 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Brandon for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for your service to this great country as well. Thank you for raising a fine young man.

Kenneth, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew there had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Brandon for his service for me and yours as well. Thanks again for joining us.
Sincerely, EG

Welcome to NavyDads Kenneth ! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Kenneth this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Brandon is doing!

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your son is going through. Thanks to one of our members we have two excellent videos that you can access from the Video area on the NavyDads.com main page: New Bootcamp 1 of 2 and New Bootcamp 2 of 2. These videos will answer many of your questions and concerns and will give you a better understanding of how the United States Navy transforms our children into sailors!

Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable.

And Kenneth- thank you for your service to our great country. Best Regards- Paul Delete Comment
