Rex said… - Phil my son has been a at. for quite a few years he has always pretty much enjoyed his job. josh is on shore duty in Hawaii at the current time . he was on the USS Vinson a carrier for 6 or 7 months . they ended up in the persion gulf . the carrier and the aircraft were supporting the grunts on the ground in Iraq.

- Phil it gets better. My son is 9 months in and stationed in San Diego on the USS Ronald Reagan. He is an ABE on the flight deck working with the catapult system and launches the aircraft. So the good part is that he is in SD and what could be better than that. But I can't help but sharing his special duty. I spoke to him the other day and he told me he was on dumpster duty. So I asked, what is dumpster duty? So he told me it was exactly what it says, his duty that day was to stand in front of the dumpsters for four hours to make sure no one got in their trash. So after hearing that I learned that the Navy's trash must be protected and the documents and such in it must not fall into others hands. So the Navy has a long list of odd jobs for our new Sailors. I thought this was a funny one, so I wanted to share.

Check out some of the other groups and some of the discussions that are going on. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank James for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young man.

I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is on the second half of a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat recently returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). - Phil, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy dads just like myself. Chat on Navy Dads
The chat feature on Navy Dads has changed a little. To enter into the chat room click on were it says Navy Dads (44 members online) then type your post in the box and hit enter to make the post show up. When you are done click the the arrow by the person icon and the chat box will be hidden again. The chat feature can also be found on the main page. Just scroll down till you see it. The chat will also make a two note sound when someone posts a comment so you know when the chat is active.…
