Actually, what we get on the dream sheet is 3 slots to put down requests. These can be as vague or specific as we want. For example, I know one guy who put down "Norfolk, East Coast, DDG." And my neighbor had "Overseas, Europe,…

The worst thing about Hell Week was that it was a week of 4am reveilles and (for our division) early-morning marches in the snow to get to places.

Daaaad. I'm enlisted. Sad day, though; one of my true Naval role models is being moved from night shift to days. Senior Chief Clark will be greatly missed (any dads with kids in ET A nights, bring him up in conversation, and listen to hear…

Yes, Paul--she does that naturally, without chemical enhancement. Downside is, glass breaking or people whistling in her ear can pretty much blind her. "Big White Light, BAD!"

Hey, I still keep in touch with him. He games with me and Caitlyn online. (Actually, Caitlyn's a fun one to introduce music to, too...she's synesthetic, and sees music as colors.)

I'm not in the same class as a Maccarone or as Rosie--I think she's like 2 weeks behind me. Coming up to the end of the Comms unit. The test with the centaur analogy I was talking about with Dad was AP Radar--a frustrating unit, where…

Specifically on #3--my RDCs told me from week one, "you are not going to make it. I'm going to wash you out. You're going to fail." Boy did that hit my pride or what? I had to make it to prove them wrong. It proved one of the…

Here's the news from Ang: currently at a 95% average, thank you very much. Missed one question on the 3M test. Ah, well. Also, I absolutely adore ET1 (SW) Newell, our schoolhouse LPO. He takes such good care of us.

Washers and driers. The division assigns a few laundry POs to wash out everything for the div, then they pass it all out before taps.

Pride: the Rambling

Forgive me, I know this is going to go in a million directions. That's okay, I'm human and I can do that. After all, this is really meant for my dad first and everyone else a distant second.People look at me funny, when I sing cadence as loud as I can. The SDCs and instructors seem the only people who appreciate a gal in the front with tennies, belting it out as she tries to march along. Me? I do it as a release, for when else do we get to sound off like that? Well, during morning quarters when…See More

Function generator, connected to the NIDA 130 test console. Remind me to buy stock in that company, by the way. NIDA makes good business with the navy. Passed Mod 8 today, right into 9, which is the evil twin of 8 in drag. No, really.

It was getting to the point where I had to admit my roommate had something when she said it stunk in here. I mean, I was admitting to a little foot fungus, but nothing Lotrimin couldn't cure, right? Riiight?

Well, wrong. I went to sick call this morning, and ended up with a diagnosis of Pitted Keratolysis. That is, a nasty little bacterium eating the… Continue

Won't You Be Mine?

Posted on February 14, 2010 at 8:41am 1 Comment

It was fully my intention to email Dad and ask him to be my Valentine because there was no way I'd get a valentine of my own, right? I've been on base less than a week, and I'm not that kind of gal to be noticed and all that jazz. No, no way I'd have a valentine.

I woke up this morning (early, for duty section turnover), opened the door to head to the head. There was shit on the ground. Not literal shit. Colorful...kiddy valentines. Happy Bunny, Hello Kitty, Disney…

Saturday duty day at A School

Posted on February 13, 2010 at 8:29am 1 Comment

The alarm clock went off at 6:45, the latest I'd woken up since boot camp began. I didn't need to be down in the lounge for muster until 8, but I needed to chow before then (galley only, since other food places are not authorized when on duty). They called sweepers for Duty Section 3, then turned over to 4, and I'm free for on-ship liberty until an event such as posting for midday chow or my watch...or the dress blue inspection Duty Section 4 is holding to ensure no one begs off watch due to…

Welcome to NavyDads Seeky Wolf! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun, useful, and educational as I have. Explore the site and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I certainly have! If you have any questions or concerns ...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) returned spring '09 from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) returned fall '08 from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Seeky Wolf this is a great place to brag as well! So join in and let us know how you are doing! We do ask that you remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors in mind at all times. On the right side of every NavyDads page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link and the NavyDads Guidelines link. And stop by the NavyDads offical store- Navyoutfitters.com. Show your support for NavyDads by wearing the latest in NavyDads attire. Best Regards- Paul
