Describe a little about yourself:
Retired - did 38 years at Boeing - mostly in computing.
2 sons did Army, 3rd one (Brice) chose Navy. We live near a recreational lake & enjoy getting our 20' bowrider out & pulling grandkids on wakeboards, kneeboards & tubes.
What brought you to this site:
My son is currently serving
What were your feelings when your Sailor joined the Navy:
It was a carefully researched decision on his part (he knew that dad wouldn't fully fund a college education so he researched educational opportunities). Although I was proud to see him sworn in, it was tough seeing the youngest of 5 leave the nest & head for Great Lakes. He did 7 months in the Persian Gulf aboard CG66 (USS Hue City - Guided Missile Cruiser). I'm a very proud dad!!!
What is your relationship with your sailor

Please share: how did you find us?
Stumbled across the web site while looking for a hi-res graphic of CVN 72 (USS Abraham Lincoln) crest. Didn't find a hi-res crest but DID find navydads.

My son, Brice spent 7 months in the Persian Gulf on CG 66, (Guided Missile Cruiser - USS Hue City). A "combat veteran" at age 19. Returned safely and went into (ET) C school at Great Lakes just outside of Chicago. After C school, he received orders to report to San Diego for "COMSEC" training, (which he completed) and then to report to CVN 72, USS Abraham Lincoln in Everett, Washington on September 20!! (many of us realize that CVN 72 pulled out of Everett on Monday the 6th of September).… Continue

Welcome aboard Steve! I’m so glad that you’ve joined us. I can’t add very much to what Paul said, but wanted to pop in here and say hello. My son is an AW and flies with VP-45 on the P-3 Orion. Be sure to join the groups that will follow what Brice is doing with the Navy. If you have questions, usually you can find what you’re looking for here. See you around the fleet!

Welcome to NavyDads.com Steve! I'm sure you'll find NavyDads.com as useful, educational and informative as I have. Please explore the site and make some new Navy friends. Be sure to read the discussions add your comments or start a new discussion. Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. I certainly have! If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm blessed to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) is stationed on the carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) just completed her five-year enlistment on the carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Steve this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let us know how Brice is doing! Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind at all times. On the right or starboard side of every NavyDads.com page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should and should not talk about in a public forum like NavyDads.com. And stop by the NavyDads offical store- Navyoutfitters.com! Show your support for NavyDads.com by wearing the latest in NavyDads attire. Best Regards- Paul

Steve, Welcome Aboard!

When my son first enlisted in the Navy I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to his future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads but found out I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and hope this site will benefit fathers that follow behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Brice and his brothers for their service for me and thanks again for joining us.

Sincerely, E.G.
