Anita, sorry you got a curt answer, I think I know the one you mean and I was a little taken aback by it as well, but in thinking about it more I don't believe the author meant it the way it sounded... at any rate, yes, I know the maze of…

Hello Anita, what are your questions? My son just returned from Iraq 3 weeks ago, so of course we too worry when he will be re-deployed to Afgan-land, but... this is the course our sons have chosen, and it is not a bad decision, even if dangerous at…

Hi all, this ast Saturday I was going to post a happy note that our son had just returned from Iraq when I read the note about the loss to the Castiglione and Hario families. We know it can happen but always cuts deep. Our prayers go out to their…

AdamsDad, if you scroll back through the many pages within this forum, you will begin to get an idea of what your son will go through over the coming year. You mention bootcamp so he must be at Great Lakes, MI. There will be a lot of indoctrination…

Cindy, not sure what the relationship may be... could his HM-1 talk to him? He seriously needs to get himself on the mend. Hmmm... could his Hm-1 perhaps talk to his girlfriend, if she's the one to whom he will listen?

Whoa, Cindy, this can't be Morgan you're talking about? Another son? Going to assume so, and I'm assuming there has been a knee injury and now it's time for bearing down and getting with rehabilitation. And... it's not…

Your in Idaho?!! How awesome is that. I'm in Boise. I know what you mean about being cautious. That is so very important. If your wife joins the Idaho group, I can send her a welcome message asap. We've had two gatherings here in Boise. The first meeting we had a mom drive in from Jerome just to meet everyone. I'm trying to find a half way point so that all the Idaho moms can get together for a weekend. It has been very difficult and we still don't have a place. Sorry, I wandered there for a minute. Morgan had a very easy time at bc. His RTC had the most experience so they didn't do a lot of IT when they got in trouble. The RTC said they were there to become Sailors, to learn, and to train, not have to go thru a bunch of IT. Morgan actually said if he had the chance to take bc over again with the same RTC's, he'd have a lot more fun. He is so ready to be training again, he's really tired of paperwork even though he's head admin. I look forward to staying in touch with you and your wife. For your daughter-in-law, I believe there's a group for her, too. I'm guessing Thomas is stationed at Camp Pendleton when he's home. There's a group for Camp Pendleton moms as well as wives and girlfriends.

Hi Ron ~ I read your but haven't been able to find it here on the site, so here I am on your page. My son is not deployed, but currently waiting to class up at Camp Pendleton for FMTB. Once he is thru training, he'll be deployed on the front lines with his group of Marines. In response to your question, if you don't mind talking to a lot of mom's, I suggest you join N4M's, as well. There are a lot more members with a huge diversity in regards to where their sailor is in their career. There are also some dad's. Kinda vice versa from this site! Check it out. God bless your sailor and may he be safe during his deployment. Please give him a big thank you from a corpsman mom. Would love to stay in contact with you since Thomas is ahead of Morgan. It's always nice to know someone who is ahead of my sailor.

Ron thankyou for your sons service and as for a father , the sacrifice of a son that is a long way from home. My son Justin has been gone for a while now and he is somewhere in Iraq. I really don't have a clue where he is, he won't say but we stay in contact by email as often as possible. Justin has been gone for nearly6 months this time and he sounds by his emails that he has been really busy with his duties and sounds in great spirits. He informed me that in his little spare time he has that he is learning martial arts courtesy of the USMC . I know this from marines and former marines that they take care of there navy corpsman. Even though Justin hasn't said for sure but he has made rumblings that he was thinking of re-enlisting. This is his 2ed tour over there and as a dad I do worry about him but his mom and I raised him right and we just put our faith in God and his upbringing and he will be home soon. Good luck with your son and just remember that your son may be the only chance somebody elses son may have the chance to make it home alive. Thank God for all of our corspman!!! Darwyn Proehl

Welcome to NavyDads Ron! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is on the second half of a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat recently returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Ron this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Thomas is doing! Best Regards- Paul

Ron, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. Check out some of the groups and some of the discussions that are going on. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force over 4 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Thomas for his service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young man.

Stick 724, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Thomas for his service for me and thanks again for joining us.
Sincerely, EG
