Chuck said… This seems familar as I am a Navy vet as are both of the kid's grandfathers. The feelings with my daughter are very different from when her brother left. I can not say it is harder. But we still have her till July. Maybe then it will be much harder when she is leaving..
Chuck said… Actually...and so it continues. My oldest son just started his second enlistment. My daughter is doing the overnighter at MEPS tonight. ASVAB tonight and the physical tomorrow.
Northeast Dad said… Yes sir, a fellow New Englander! As native as the lobstah...ayuh! My wife noticed a post on Navy moms from somebody that said, they were driving to PIR from southern Maine the same week that we go. We can't wait to see our new saior!
Jeremey Kelley said… Thanks Tom! The wife and I are proud of our little girl, she's grown up to be a big hero to us!

Mr. Sailorette said… Every ones feed back has been helpful. Support is the whole reason for this site. My posts are my thoughts and feelings. I reread all of them last night. I understand there have been mixed responses. I think those reading my posts completely have responded with helpful advice. Some read parts selectively and kinda missed it.
Just providing an honest response in regards to your own experiences is a priceless resource. Not only to me but to all who read. In the future I am sure someone in my shoes will be comforted in learning from the journey we are sharing here.

NavyDads Co-Admin, Jim said… Tom that's really cool about your friend with the most hours in a P-3. What bragging rights he must have! I assume you saw them flying out of Brunswick? That base is closed now to P-3s. Did you also know that they are finally going to replace the P-3 with a modified Boeing 737? It will be the P-8 Posiedon. Cool plane. We got to see one up close and personal at NAS Jacksonville while we were visiting our son before he deployed.
NavyDads Co-Admin, Jim said… Welcome aboard Tom! I'm so glad that you've joined us. I can't add very much to what’s already been said, but wanted to pop in here and say hello.
My son Stephen is an AWO and flies with VP-45 on the P-3 Orion Sub Hunter and is stationed in Jacksonville, FL. Currently, he’s on his first deployment. Be sure to join the groups that will follow what Caitlin is doing with the Navy. If you have questions, usually you can find what you're looking for here. See you around the fleet!
Jim
