I know it can be tough on us Parents! Hang in there Ray you are not alone we are here for you..all of us Navydads and Moms!! tell me what your son and daughter been up to lately or have you had an update yet? My daughter (my youngest daughter of 4 daughters( My son is the youngest of them all age 20.) Brooklyn is back in Atsugi Japan after being out on the GW and is going back out again soon. She told me about her experiences on the Ship and on the Flight Deck and some of it can put a little fear in Mom here however I thank God I still have her around although she is so far away she is still alive! My daughter is waiting for her Care Package from me which may not make it to her before she Ships out again. She requested Cheerwine Soda, my Homemade Salsa and Dill Beans and Snacks along with new gloves and arm protectors. its only $11.95 total to send the largest box overseas no matter how much it weighs so that is quite a deal!! you can get them through the post office or order them online and they come straight to you for Free!! well again hang in there my friend!!

Welcome ! I would like to hear about your daughter and your Son. How are they? What are they doing in the Navy and Marines? My daughter is an AD and works on Jet Engines. She just left for Japan yesterday and it is already tomorrow over there!

Ray, “Welcome Aboard”. I am glad that you have joined us. This site is for you to use and enjoy. We love to talk about our sailors around here and we have been known to brag on them a little. We are also here to support and encourage each other. After all we are all in this together. I have two sons and they are both in the military. My youngest joined the Air Force 5 years ago. My oldest joined the Navy and is stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Please thank Rita for her service to this great country from an old Vietnam Vet. Thank you for raising a fine young woman.

ray- there are quite a number of us that have seen their son or daughter ship out for a long 7 month deployment.... be sure to check out the Carrier Families and Care Packages groups......get some ideas of things that are going to happen and what you might want to put in those precious care packages. Stop by the Post Office and check out their flat rate boxes....you can ship a lot of goodies for about $12 a box........

Welcome to NavyDads Ray ! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what she is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Ray this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Rita is doing!

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your daughter is going through. Thanks to one of our members we have two excellent videos that you can access from the Video area on the NavyDads.com main page: New Bootcamp 1 of 2 and New Bootcamp 2 of 2. These videos will answer many of your questions and concerns and will give you a better understanding of how the United States Navy transforms our children into sailors!

Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable.

Finally, when you get a chance please be sure to check out the Daughters and Their Dads group. It is a great place for us to brag about our girls.

And Ray- thanks to your son for his service to our great country. Semper Fi !Best Regards- Paul

Ray, Welcome Aboard!

My son is an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca. and my family and I couldn't be prouder of him. When he first enlisted I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your daughters journey in the Navy. Thank Rita for her service for me and your son as well. Thanks again for joining us.

Sincerely, EG
