Hi
We received the form letter today stating our son's graduation would be December 11th.
Any tips? We are traveling from Memphis, Tennessee. Considering driving, thoughts on driving conditions that time of the year?

I'm attending PIR on May 10th and wondering what to do for the afternoon and evening? Any suggestions from people who have been there?

Also do the recruits always leave Saturday?

18 November 2011 Graduation Day (a.k.a. PIR) - We shuttled in and arrived at the main gate drop-off area roughly around 0700. As we made our way to entering the base, we were warmly greeted by courteous heavily armed MAs who checked our photo IDs. From there we walked a short distance to the graduation hall and at the door we were handed the graduation programs. They asked for our names, our sailor’s name and division number.

With exactly three weeks left to go and a day for PIR, I’m feeling ever so anxious. I’m so anxious that I haven’t slept straight for weeks ever since my son left for boot camp.

 

I’d wake up in the middle of the night wondering how he’s doing, how he’s feeling and I still constantly worry but I always just hope for the best. I wish I had a Time Machine... Usually, I’ll have one of my “If I can only turn back time” moments, but in this case I wanna go full-throttle at warp speed…

Anyone have a son or daughter having PIR on this date.

recruiter called yesterday , and Sam is in Div 900 in a temporary barracks and will call back Monday
Div 900 is a special Marchin div.

Just got the I am a Sailor call from our son. Battle Stations over and passed. He sounded real tired but relieved that it is over, so are we. Now it on to PIR we can't wait. Congrats Robbie and Div 291.

We left Great Lakes with puffed chests, full of pride, emotionally spent and anxious about what the future holds for our son. His mother, particularly, had a tough time as we began our drive home. She cried with pride and also at the realization that this marks the true passage into adulthood for him. Please pray for us, we're worried that we might not be able to make it to our son's PIR. Tim has a PIR date of September 10th. Well, my wife had to leave her job due to some health issues and we just had to have a car repaired. So, the budget is getting really, really tight. I know this is a very important date for Tim and don't want to miss it if at all possible to go.

JUST GOT TODAY FROM MY SON DEVINS PIR IT WAS AN AWE INSPIRING EVENT REST EASY AMERICA THERE IS 900 MORE OF OUR NATIONS FINEST PROTECTING THE BLANKET OF SECURITY AND FREEDOM THAT WE REST UNDER AND I AM PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM IF YOUR CHILD IS IN BOOT CAMP I HAVE TO SAY THE FEELING OF WATCHING THEM MARCH INTO THAT HALL IN THEIR DRESS WHITES WORDS CAN NOT EXPRESS IT MY HEART ALMOST BURST WITH PRIDE IT WAS TRULY ONE OF THE TOP HIGH LITES OF MY LIFE

Prior to observing PIR in person, one can only imagine what it's like to watch their son march past in dress whites...a US Sailor...but, in fact - what we imagined is but a fraction of reality. One of the proudest moments in our lives. Incredibly proud of our son, Lynch.

my son devins pir is in 12 days we found out this week that his division 274 is a grad and go so i dont know how much time we have to see him
