Hi Barry,
I'm Paul, my daughter left for Boot Camp 27OCT, She is on Week 4 training. You should received a brief 15 second call when they have officially arrived at BC and they are starting to put all contents in the infamous box to be mailed home, should arrive the following week. They will be going thru their "P" days for a week or so for all their medical and dental screenings and anything else they can do to them. Should be a Pin cussion from all the necessary shots. At some point of the "P" Days they should get assigned to their Ship and Division for Training, That the time the Official letter gets sent to you with 4 lines for your sailors personal message (very brief) we received our letter about week two. First phone call at week three +/- a few days for about 15 min. Letters are able to be received about this time as well. They are going thru a lot of adjusting up to this point. It helps to have a mindset of no news is good news untill they get to make their firt personnal call. We have been blessed with our daughters possitive additude and drive to give her 110% to get thru this first challenge. She has her strengths and weaknesses as they all do but is determine to get thru it. We remain supportive by sending letters daily to help her keep her possitive additude. A lot can happen thru the whole process and our fingers are crossed all the way. Each day gets easier especially when we started receiving letters (once a week unless they had a down day for a holiday) They can mail letters on Sunday so we get our mail from her on Thursday. Received extra ltrs this week because of Thanksgiving last week. We are proud of our kids that have joined to help defend our freedoms. Its awesome and stand prouder everyday. Good luck to your son.

go through the past posts in the Bootcamp group....there is nothing you'll go through that someone else hasn't already experienced...there is a ton of advice there. As always, if you have questions and concerns post them! Welcome to the journey!!
