write every day if you can, send in one of his letters prepaid phone cards.  The recruits don't get enough money during a month.  It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do to say farewell to my youngest son.  You MUST attend his PIR. I watched him come into this world but the PIR will make you feel greater than you have ever felt concerning your son.  welcome aboard...

Letters from home are more important than you know, start one now before you get an address

to send it to add on as the days pass.

Getting mail in boot camp helps them alot ...only takes a few min each day and the lift is

a great help.

Make graduation if you can, it will stay with you for sure.

Joseph I totally understand how you are feeling , my son shipped last Tuesday and I'm still working through it ! Good news is it gets better . This site has been helping me out a lot . Check out the videos they provide and just reach out when you need to . Our sons are doing a great thing for this country . We never stop being dads , but we must let them fly ! I'm standing with you sir !

Joseph,

It is very difficult to see our loved ones go. Over the next few weeks as he goes through boot camp, be prepared to not hear much from him, this is normal. You will get a few letters and then the notice for his upcoming graduation. Plan on attending if you can. The feeling you get when your son and his Division walk through that door is one you will never forget. Best of Luck to your son and to his service to our country. I know you will be as proud of him as I am of mine.
