Thank you for the warm welcome and words of encouragement. Thank you for hosting yet another Navy for Moms refugee. I have found some great groups in the last few days, this one included and I am completely humbled by the "Take this person under our wing" feeling I get every time I join one of these Navy groups. I greatly appreciate that. Thank you!

Thank you Paul.  I'm here in case any of the moms from my daughters group are looking for information about what happened to the N4Ms site.  I have been in contact with B'sNukemom&dad and she has been keeping me up to date.  I so appreciate you opening your NavyDads group to us wondering moms out there treading water!!!!!!

Thank you Paul, Its been hard for me to not have her around heck I would even take her yelling at me right now. I an the youngest of 5 and my oldest brother is a retired Army Sgt Major. And I have another brother who was in the Air Force. So I have had the chance to experience the lingo and expectations its just harder when it is your own. I tried to join back in the 80's and failed the physical because I have flat feet. I wanted to go in the Air Force I got my pilots license in 86 and wanted to learn how to fly a helicopter. Dreams dashed on that one but I am glad it worked out like that because I would have never met my children's mother. God has a plan and so I am just following. Anyway thank you again.

I can tell you some generic stuff about Japan.  It is amazing.  Get off base as often as possible, utilize MWR tours and events.  Get a civilian passport for leisure travel opportunities.  The food is outstanding, try everything.

His sponsor should fill him in on the phone stuff, ours do not work there.  Skype will be your friend.

I miss Japan very much, coming from a military family, living in one place in Yokosuka for so many years made it feel like home to me.

Japan ... I was stationed in Yokosuka, and so was my husband.  I was there for a total of 12 years, a couple tours of my own, and then a couple as a dependent spouse.  Iwakuni is further south, near Hiroshima.  I've never visited the base.  My father was stationed there in the 50s, during Korea.  I don't have many specific answers about that area, other than nearby Miyajima is not to be missed.

I'm proud to be aboard Navy Dads. I truly appreciate the add to this site. I have found some really great info so far and I know I will be on here quite often. I am enjoying the reading. My baby girl's ship date is 11 July 2017. I am very proud of her decision to serve.

I'm trying to respond to your pm and it's not letting me post/send it.  I saved my response & will try to post again in a bit.

Do you have any suggestions as to how we can get the N4M site back up & running?  Of course I'm hoping today is just a temporary problem but I am worried it could be more serious.  And I can't get any response from the ad agency on file or ning :(

Hey Paul - I'm one of the admins on the Navy for Mom's nuke group and we have been having problems with the ad agency that runs the site - Young & Rubicam....I've sent several emails to them and to ning with no response and now today the whole site is down.  I'm worried they may have shut it down (but hoping it's just something temporary).  Who runs the Dads site - ad agency wise?  We used to be supported by the Navy but that changed a while back.  Just trying to figure out what to do!  Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Paul, I appreciate the warm welcome. I also appreciate this site and the support of fellow parents. I am hoping it helps to alleviate my fears as my daughter goes through the rigors of OCS.

Thanks for your comment Paul. My oldest son is active Army, blackhawk pilot. I believe he was of great influence on my youngest son's decision to embrace on OCS and eventually aviation school. As you probably know all too well, the parents have their own stresses as they embark on their journey. He has a strong foundation and believe will do well thru the process. Thanks again.

Thanks Paul,

This is so new to my wife and I and we are somewhat overwhelmed, part of that being the feeling of sadness for him leaving and part of it being that we have so much to learn about the Navy.  I'm sure like all of you that have gone through this before us that we will learn a lot in the next couple days, months and years. But right now we both very anxious about it all and want to learn so much about this new part of his life.

And I am already so glad we found this site, we have both been reading a lot and watching the videos and they have helped bring some relief to the fear and worry we have for our son.

Thanks again and we look forward to being proud Navy parents!

Jeff
