Hi. My son will have the rate Personnel Specialist and he will be still living for boot camp this late November. Does anyone out there know if this rate is good or not? i want to hear more from you. He scored good in ASVAB. When he had his classification, they gave him 3 choices of Jobs ,these are AD, SH And CS but then He ended up as Personnel Specialist. Can you give me some pieces of advice?
What are the difference of PS from YN? Do they have exactly the duties and do they have the same advancement oppurtunities?
And are there plenty room for advancement with this job?

All rates are good, they will provide all recruits with training that will transfer into something in the civilian world. The differance between PS and YN is that PS is more of a administrative secratary and a YN is more of a executive secratary. If you go to military.com and look up Navy rateings you can see better details on what each rate does. As for advancement that will change all the time it just depends on maning levels, it fluxuates.
