My son was supposed to start ET school in GL this week but is on hold for at least one week, one of his roommates has been on hold for 3 weeks. When he finishes in GL he’ll be going to A school in San Diego, CA to be a surface sonar tech.

My son is slated for A school in Pensacola, but has been delayed due to Hurricane Isaac.  He really enjoyed his experience at GL and is looking forward to expanding his knowledge base, earning the privilege of going to C school, getting his college degree while in the Navy, and then serving his country for 20 years.  I couldn't be more proud as I know you all feel the same.

Just said good-by to my daughter as she starts A schooling tomorrow. I had a great time at GL as it brings back old memories from my 23 years in the army.

My son's PIR was 05/18/2012. He is still at GL's awaiting A school. He had enlisted under what I beleive is called the PAC program which means he does'nt have a designated job, but will be able to choose following 18 month assignment which he has learned will be 4 yr's in Sesabo Japan. I'm wondering how long his A school will last and how much leave he may have after A school and b4 leaving for Japan. Thanks for any imfo.           PROUD NAVY DAD !

Howdy from Texas, Dads! This past Thursday, my wife and I were privedged to be able to attend our son's Corpsman A-school graduation at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. After graduation from his basic training, I had heard (or read) that the graduations from A and C school were no big deal. But, I must say that our experience was different. We enjoyed it very much! It was kind of like a very small college graduation. There was a Choir, a Flag ceremony, opening and closing prayers by a chaplin, a Master of Ceremonies, a guest speaker, a speech by the Honor Graduate, presentation of special awards and a walk across the stage for all 84 graduates to receive their individual certificates as their names were called. I must say that we enjoyed it very much. So, if you get a chance to go to any graduation, do go! The look on my son's face when he saw us was the icing on the cake.

My son just got his Soft Orders for assignment after A School. He'll be on a Destroyer based at Norfolk, both of which he wanted!!!  He finishes A School for OS at the begining of July.
