No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

That's great Shaun. My daughter flew out this past Monday. She decided to call her GF instead of me. Was a little disappointed about that. We're pretty close and she's a little older then the avg. recruit (24)......Oh well. Hopefully I'll the letter with all the info.

I took a couple of minutes of video at PIR last month, a good preview for those who are now looking forward to PIR. It's so exciting when the door opens and the divisions start entering! Here is the link

Got my sons call "I am here and well" this morning at 12:15am RTC time. It was a suprise since I thought he would call his mom. It was great to hear his voice!!! Can not wait to get his letter so we can start sending letters and know his PIR date.

Keep in mind that if your SR's are getting a background check you might get some bonus calls. I got several in the 1st week or ten days "Dad, what is the address of the company you work for" "Dad, what is granmas address" etc. Couldn't really talk much but it was great to hear from her early on.

How exciting Bob! We are hoping for a phone call soon. We got a letter after the form letter & he said he'd be calling soon. Chaz is in Div 944. PIR is 14 Sept also. What Div is Matt in?

Great news Bob. Our 2nd and 3rd calls from our daughter weren't quite so positive but by the end she sure loved it. I think getting the calls where she didn't sound so good probably made it more painful for us, but she was a-ok after @ 4 or 5 weeks. Have a great time at PIR and try to get there early!!!

Got our first call since the "I am here and Ok" call from our Matt.  He loves it, is doing great, passed all Test-Inspections and is going great guns. Can't discribe how great it was to hear from him. PIR 14 Sept 12, can't wait. GO NAVY!!!!!!
